StormTech Stormwater Management

Stormwater (or surface water) runoff refers to rain, ice and snow melt that does not infiltrate or evaporate. This excess water is exposed to pollution that may be present on the ground. Surface water runoff may dissolve or pick up these pollutants.

Harmful pollutants are particularly likely when rain falls on industrial facilities. However, impermeable surfaces such as roads, roofs and pavements make any built environment a potential source of pollution. Rainfall after prolonged dry periods can result in higher  concentrations of pollutants in surface water runoff.

There are many kinds of pollution that can be found in stormwater including, waste, chemicals, oils, and particulate solids (TSS).

Stormwater treatment involves capturing pollutants from surface water runoff before they infiltrate into the ground or reach a watercourse or body of water, as once they have reached the natural environment they can cause harm to wildlife and can be extremely difficult to remove.

At ADS in the UK we have a range of stormwater treatment products that can be incorporated into a sustainable drainage system (SuDS).

StormTech chambers are engineered to offer a durable solution for any commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure project. As StormTech is installed underground, it can form part of an integrated SuDS system and help provide valuable surface space for parking, playgrounds or other amenities.

StormTech is available with various chamber sizes, making it easy to optimise systems for a wide variety of conditions. This includes shallow cover depths and deep installation. It can also be configured around obstacles and with multiple inlets and outlet positions.

StormTech chambers lock together providing uninterrupted access for inspection and maintenance. Standard inlet and outlet pipe manifolds, manholes, access chambers and flow controls can also be used.

StormTech offers a cost-effective solution for stormwater attenuation by including an integrated water quality treatment system called Isolator Row. Isolator Row is independently tested and validated by NJCAT/NJDEP to provide over 80% TSS removal and has Mitigation Indices of TSS=0.8; Metals=0.6; Hydrocarbons=0.7.
